Forgot How to be a Happy Mom? – Here are 5 simple reminders

how to be a happy mother

“Happiness is a choice – not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. No person will make you happy unless you decide to be happy. Your happiness will not come to you. It can only come from you.” – Ralph Marston. The responsibilities of a mom are so huge and challenging that sometimes that drain out all the positivities from our lives. It makes us feel trapped in a life we don’t deserve at all. It seems there is nothing to be happy about and we are just living for others. As a result, we become tired, depressed,  and remain irritated all the time. Being impatient, we start yelling at our loved ones every now and then. We forget how to be a happy mom and put the happiness of our whole family at stake.

Only a happy mother can raise a happy child. With some little changes in our lifestyle, we can discover the healthier and happier moms that we always wanted to be. To reclaim the joy of motherhood, we have to follow just some simple steps. We have to keep in mind that if we ignore our needs and desires for a long time to give quality time to our children, it becomes an obligation, and the enjoyment of parenthood evaporates. So finding the right balance is very much important. Come, let us inspire one another with some simple tips on how to be a happy mom.

1. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF:

  1. Some moms think that taking care of themselves is selfish as they have to become only dedicated mothers. But if a mom remains indifferent to self-care routine and remains clumsy throughout the day, it is impossible for her to feel better and confident about her own self. Every mom should find out time to pamper herself. Sometimes, just getting dressed well or doing your hair can uplift the mood. By taking care of our physical and mental health, we can keep us fresh and energized to manage the responsibilities of motherhood with a smile. Only by getting a massage or a pedicure in our favorite spa,  we can rejuvenate ourselves. Adequate sleep at night and a daily exercise or meditation routine can give a mom the energy for the whole day and improves her mental health also. To be a happy mom by enjoying every bit of motherhood,  we can recharge ourselves by including yoga in our morning routine.

2. ENJOY THE MOMENT BY CONNECTING:

Whatever is the situation, moms have to enjoy life by connecting with others. They should fix a time to spend only with the kids. Just cuddling up your kids and laughing with them can boost up your mood. Being in the company of kids and playing with them releases all the stress and fills up the mind with happiness.  Try to reconnect with your spouse by sharing little thoughts and experiences on a daily basis. Plan to do something as a team in which everyone will have his or her share of responsibility. It will not only strengthen the bonding with one another in the family but also get the spark back in the relationships. In addition to this, every mom should have other mom friends with whom she can share her stories. Speaking with other moms sometimes helps us to analyze a problem from different perspectives. This way, we can find out simple solutions for apparently serious problems.

3. FOLLOW A HOBBY TO BE A HAPPY MOM:

You can save your sanity amidst the chaos of parenting just by following your hobby or passion regularly. Engage yourself for some time in something creative- painting, sewing, reading,  writing, gardening, or crafting. Listening to our favorite music also uplifts our mood instantly. If we can concentrate on a creative act, it can transcend us to another level where the narrowness, anxiety, and stress of the material world cannot affect us so much. “ Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”  – it replenishes our soul and fills the mind with happiness. Whatever your hobby is, it can lower your stress hormone level.

4. BE CONFIDENT:

When you are confident,  you are in control of your emotions,  and you won’t let others to make you feel bad.  Being confident, you can be your own best friend and fight against all the negativities to be happy in your relationships. So, be confident to say “ no” to that you don’t want to do. It won’t let you feel trapped in any situation. Do what you feel right and don’t care about what people are thinking about you. Ultimately, the control will be on your hand. You will feel happy about your choices. If you feel confident about yourself and your choices, nothing can upset you. If anything goes wrong, you should have the confidence to put everything back in the right order. Being yourself, you should not be guilty, and I can assure you that you would discover how to be a happy mom.

5. BE POSITIVE:

Moreover, a positive attitude would help us moms to fight against all ups and downs of life. Be rational with your expectations and fix the goals for yourself. Don’t compare with others and lament over others’ successes. Instead of mourning at what you have not done, focus on your achievements as a mom as well as an independent woman. It is important to understand that it is ok not to be a perfect mom. You can be a good mom instead. Don’t set extremely high expectations from your children. It may lead to unhappiness and a sense of deprivation. Forget things and people that cause stress and unhappiness to you. Our positive attitude will instill positivity in our children.

So, to sum things up, we can say without feeling guilty, moms should do whatever makes them happy. Surrounded by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, they can choose their ways to be a happy mom. At the same time, we have to keep in mind that we are blessed with the opportunity to look after our little angels. We won’t have this day with our children again. Tomorrow they will be a little older and different from today. So we should enjoy this moment to the fullest. Enjoy their company and laugh with them.

Moms! If you follow some different ways to maintain your happiness, please share it with us so that we can incorporate it into our daily routine.

I totally agree with you about cultivating a hobby. It not only gives you a sense of satisfaction but also you get some time out for yourself for something you love. Great tips.

This is so spot on mama, especially your first tip about self care. As moms filling into our kid’s cups when ours isn’t even full makes for a cranky momma!

Love this! I thought the quote was awesome, especially the last line: “Your happiness will not come to you. It can only come from you.” I 100% agree! Taking time for self care and things that you are passionate about is so important! It’s not like all your physical and emotion needs and passions all go away once you become a mom!
